What is the time during your everyday life to really find peace and quiet? And, after scratching head for long, few of you might come with an answer, ‘when you are alone in the lavatory.’ Right?
The reason is simple, in this hectic and boredom-full life, taking a break to relieve yourself to be quite peaceful while letting the world around you continue the chaos, is not the bad idea. But, sometimes this ideology leads people to sit on the toilet seat for much longer than they actually need to.
And, do you know? Just like your bed should utterly be used for rest and coitus, the lavatory should only be used for pooping.
Any harm in staying long? Yes, here are they!

Pooping shouldn’t be a drawn out process. You are better off keeping your toilet time to less than 10 to 15 minutes,” said Gregory Thorkelson, M.D., a psychiatrist in the department of gastroenterology, nutrition, and hepatology at the University of Pittsburgh.
During the digestive method, our bodies go through peristalsis, which is a sequence of muscle colloquialisms throughout the digestive tract, moving meal to the several processing stages of digestion. Starting from the esophagus, peristalsis lasts throughout the intestines to allow nutrients to be absorbed into the bloodstream.
Peristalsis completes in the large intestine where water is engrossed into the bloodstream, and the remaining waste products are discharged through a bowel movement.
What if you spend too much time in the lavatory?
If you force a bowel movement to occur, you may get hemorrhoids (swollen vein or group of veins around innards) from the stress that you are putting on your body
When you put pressure on yourself to defecate
Just another reason to cause hemorrhoids. The stress on the rectum can put you into the painful infirmity in which blood vessels in the rectum get infected and cause bleeding in a severe case.
Your body will not recognize that your purpose was to defecate…
Holding in your bowel movement for long, can reverse the peristalsis process, resulting in hardening of waste materials in your body. And, this further leads to constipation.
Thus, if you sit on the toilet for too long, your body will not perceive the activity as more of a leisure time to produce a bowel movement.
When constipation further leads to stools accumulation…
When the hard stools accumulate in the lower colon, it causes the stomach to engorge. This may also cause discomfort and sharp pain in the abdominal area. This doesn’t stop here.
At the severe case, the tear of skin and tissue line can cause open wounds and bleeding.
Experts suggest squat position as the best one.
No doubt, modern toilets are designed for a more comfortable sitting. But, for a natural defecation, experts suggests squat position. In squatting, your thorax presses against thighs, and it just compresses the colon.
Besides this, it also unwinds the muscles allowing the anorectic angle to level and thus emptying the bowel completely.
Add fiber into your diet to defecate easily.
Constipation, hemorrhoids, colon issues, and pelvic floor disorder are not easy to live with.
So, from today, just put your phone down while you are in the zone.
