How To Clear A Baby’s Nose Easily

Babies are too young to take care of their hygiene. A stuffy nose can make it difficult for them to breathe. It will leave them in utmost trouble and also make them look untidy. Regular cleaning of baby’s nose is highly important to ensure proper hygiene and well being of the baby. There are ways by which one can clean the nose of the baby by making it less painful for the baby. Though most of the parents, themselves find a means to clear out baby’s nose but one should ensure if the way is healthy for the baby or not.

How to clean baby’s nose?

Use a nasal spray: This should be done only under the guidance of a healthcare provider. Not all the nasal sprays are healthy for the child. If your doctor has recommended a nasal spray, then pour 2-3 drops inside the nostrils. The baby might sneeze, don’t panic. This is one of the safest ways to clear out the nostrils and make way for the air to pass.

Using an ear bud: This is one of the most common ways of clearing the stuffed nose of the newborn baby. The nostrils of the baby are so tiny that it’s difficult to clear it out. The small end of the ear buds helps to get rid of the nose boogers. But be extra cautious, do not insert the ear bud too much deep inside the nose.

Using a bulb syringe: Nasal aspirator or bulb syringe helps to get rid of nasal mucus. Buy the one which is specially designed for the baby. Lay your baby on his back and squeeze the bulb to get away with the air. Insert the tip inside the nostril of the baby and gently release the pressure. The mucus will come out in the bulb. Clean it and use it for another nostril.

Hot shower bath: After a hot shower bath, the bathroom is full of steam. This helps to melt down the nasal mucus to an extent that it eventually comes out itself without sticking to the nostrils much.

With a soft cotton cloth/towel: A wet and soft cotton cloth or a towel can also help in getting rid of stuffy nose. However, one should make sure that it doesn’t hurt the baby.
